
Bat Masterson
Bartholemew "Bat" Masterson (November 26, 1853 – October 25, 1921) is a US Army scout, lawman, professional gambler and journalist in the Wild West. Born in Quebec, he serves as sheriff of Dodge City, Kansas, from 1877 to 1879, and also lives in Sweetwater, Texas; Tombstone, Arizona; and Denver, Colorado. From 1902 onwards he lives in New York City, where he is one of the nation's most prominent sportswriters.
He is a friend or associate of some of the most prominent figures of the Old West, including Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday; later, in New York, he is a close friend of Theodore Roosevelt.
Masterson is known for wearing stylish Eastern clothing, including a derby hat. He is equally adept with a revolver and his cane, which conceals a sword.
